An Edwardian George III style brass mounted inlaid mahogany mantel clock, unsigned, early 20th century, the French circular eight-day gong striking movement stamped with VINCENTI ET CIE, MEDAILLE D'ARGENT roundel and numbered 31704, 81 to backplate, the 6 inch circular white enamel Arabic numeral dial with blued steel spade hands set behind hinged convex bevel glazed cast brass bezel, the break-arch case with hinged brass carrying handle fitted to brass fillet edged pad to top above moulded cornice and shaped brass fillet bordered inset panel decorated with brass, copper and mother-of-pearl symmetrical foliate scroll marquetry motif beneath dial, the front angles with inset brass columns, the sides with arched brass fishscale sound frets, the rear with brass grille panel inset break-arch door, on moulded skirt base incorporating fluted collar and marquetry to front and with brass ogee bracket feet, 40.5cm (16ins) high.
