First state with copyright notice for "The Bowen-Merrill Company"; comma in last line on copyright page incorrectly placed so it is immediately to the left of the "N" of "N.Y.". This "Electrical Fairy Tale" expresses Baum's lifelong fascination with scientific discovery. The protagonist is actually the author's second son, Robert Stanton Baum, to whom the book is dedicated. Baughman 57; TBB Autumn 1968, p. 19.
