c.7 metres of fabric printed in black on white, [Whistler & Fuller 359], produced by W.H.Haynes Ltd. of London, n.d.; with a modern pack of 3 tea towels in the design, in red, green and blue, and a modern reproduction of the High Street (4) The last remaining bolt of cloth purchased from the Clovelly estate by the vendor's father in 1982, with accompanying file of correspondence conderning the purchase.Whistler often stayed in the picturesque Devon fishing village of Clovelly, with the formidable Christine Hamlyn at Clovelly Court. She passed the estate on to her nieces, one being Angela Hore-Ruthven who commissioned Whistler to design this material. It was produced in four colours, Jouy red, cornflower blue, black and green; the same designs were used for the Wedgwood china which followed (see following two lots). Exhibited at Rex Whistler. The Triumph of Fancy , Brighton Museum, 2006.
