He eventually became radically opposed to the principles of futurism, attacking it in an art article in Eenheid no. 127, on November 9, 1912: "The mimetic expression of velocity (whatever its form may be: the aeroplane, the automobile, and so on) is diametrically opposed to the character of painting, the supreme origin of which is to be found in inner life".
