Commodore PET 2001 ("Blue PET"), 1977
The Commodore PET 2001 is considered to be one of the first mass-produced Personal Computers. PET is an acronym for Personal Electronic Transactor. With the TRS-80 Model I and the Apple II, the PET was a computer of the 2nd generation (after 1st generation machines like Altair 8800, IMSAI 8080, SOL-20, Apple 1 and similar). It was one of the first machines to include keyboard, monitor and a mass storage device (cassette drive) within one housing. The computer was ready to start immediately and without complicated procedure because BASIC was loaded automatically at start-up. The keyboard (also called chiclet keyboard) on the first PET was difficult to write with because it had been carried over from previously produced calculators. The PET 2001 had no loudspeaker/sound in this early version. – The PET here is an early 1977 version in very good original condition, with a nice case. After turning on, the typical start-up message "7167 bytes free" appears. The PET is tested and able to run short programs.

Neben dem "TRS-80 Model I" und dem "Apple II" war er ein Personal Computer der 2. Generation (nach der 1. Generation wie Altair 8800, IMSAI 8080, SOL-20, Apple 1 und ähnliche). Er war einer der ersten Rechner, der sowohl Tastatur, Monitor als auch einen Massenspeicher (Kassettenlaufwerk) in einem Gehäuse vereinte. Dazu war der Rechner sofort und ohne umständliche Startprozedur einsatzbereit, da beim Start automatisch "BASIC" geladen wurde. Die Tastatur des ersten "PET" war sehr martialisch – auch boshaft "Mäuseklavier" genannt – und von den Taschenrechnern, die Commodore zuvor produzierte, übernommen worden. Einen Lautsprecher bzw. Sound hatte der PET 2001 allerdings noch nicht. – Das angebotene Gerät ist eine sehr frühe Version aus 1977 (siehe Aufdruck auf Motherboard). Originalzustand mit schönem Gehäuse. Nach dem Einschalten erscheint die typische Startmeldung "7167 bytes free". Ein kleines Programm läuft einwandfrei.
