[FILM] Irving Salkow (1909-1989) Legendary Hollywood agent. This is one of the first and most historic agencies in town, for it was founded by Salkow in 1940, during the golden age of Hollywood. One of the agents during this time was Ray Stark, who later turned into one of the industry's premier movie directors. Some of Salkow's clients at that time were movie stars Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe and William Holden. TLS, signed Irv, 1963, brief 1-page, to Milt Ebbins regarding William Asher. Stapled to letter is TLS signed by William Asher (1921-2012) was one of the most prolific early television directors, producing or directing over two dozen series. With television in its infancy, Asher introduced the sitcom Our Miss Brooks, which was adapted from a radio show. He began directing I Love Lucy by 1952. In 1964, he produced and directed Bewitched, which starred his then-wife Elizabeth Montgomery. As a result of his early success, Asher was considered an "early wunderkind of TV-land," and is credited in one magazine article for 'inventing' the sitcom.
