Description
We are very pleased to present this beautiful pair of 1960s head vases in the Napcoware line, representing a young lady and a larger lady of fashion, both with matching earrings. The large figurine features the fancy black glove form and is very collectible. The total weight of the pair is 1# and the taller measures 4.5 x 3.75 x 6 inches tall. Ladies head vases were first seen in the latter 1940s, and were used by florists. The california pottery industry flourished as the head vase became an art form, expanding to other forms in the 1950s. Not to be outdone, the wily Japanese porcelain industry perceived the potential to establish a worldwide market, and during the decades of the 1950s & 1960s, produced & exported more figural head vases than the rest of the world put together. Such American & Japanese names as Inarco, Rubens, Napco, Ardalt, Relpo, Napcoware, Vcago, Leftons, Thames, Florence Ceramics, Atlas, Mary Lou, Acme Ware, Rozart, Tilso, Margo, Lee Wards, Glamour Girl, Brinns, Royal Crown, Caffco, Parma, Lark, Sampson Import, Velco, Norcrest, Shafford, Ardco, Ucagco China, United Import, Nancy Pew, Norleans, Kelvia, Richard Benit, Royal Crown, Sonsco, Floret Japan, Royal Sealy, and Catalina Potter are many of the names that one will encounter.
