This lot comprises two bottles of 2006 vintage Bonnes-Mares produced by Domaine Comte Vogüé from the Bonnes-Mares appellation in Burgundy.

The Grand Cru vineyard spans some thirteen hectares belonging to the commune of Chambolle-Musigny and one-and-a-half hectares located in Morey-Saint-Denis. Pinot noir is exclusively grown here. The vines form on an old chalk base with a red chalk clay surface. Powerful, mineral, tannic wines with firmness and longevity are produced here. The best of them require bottle-ageing to develop their true complexity.

The elegance of the wines produced in this old cultivated landscape in the heart of Europe is founded on its topographic, geological and climatic disposition. The Burgundy vineyards lie at an intersection: it is where the restrained warmth of the South meets the cool crispness of the North. Due to this, the grapes can develop complexity at full maturity and still don’t lose their natural freshness. This is not only true for the white Burgundy, grown from Chardonnay, but also the red Burgundy, made from Pinot noir. What makes Burgundy an exceptional wine-growing region, however, are the small, rural configurations that have caused generations of vintners to intensively grapple with the small parcels of vine-growing land in attempts to cultivate sublime wines. This continuity over centuries is brought to fruition in all of the finest Burgundy wines.

The 2006 vintage Bonnes-Mares was rated 94 points by David Schildknecht for Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate in 2007.

The fill levels are excellent (< 2 cm). The labels are soiled and slightly damaged; the capsules are in perfect condition.
