Pomerol, Bordeaux/France

This lot comprises nine bottles of red wine from the Pomerol appellation in Bordeaux: three half bottles of 1986 vintage and two bottles of 1981 vintage Château Certan as well as four bottles of 1975 vintage Château de Sales.

Pomerol is along with Saint-Émilion one of the best-known and most popular appellations on the right bank of the Gironde. In contrast to Médoc, the most widely used grape variety here is Merlot. The wines are more elegant and can be enjoyed sooner than the Cabernet Sauvignon blends but most do not have the same aging potential. However Château Pétrus is one of the few that enjoys the same reputation high reputation as the Premier Cru estates.

1981 was a very good vintage in Bordeaux; ideal weather conditions ensured a great harvest. 1986 was also a very good vintage in Bordeaux with tannin-rich wines that develop wonderfully over many years.

The 1981 vintage Certan was rated 89 points by Robert Parker in 2003. James Suckling rated the wine 95 points for Wine Spectator in 1994. The 1986 vintage Certan was rated 89 points by Robert Parker in 2003. James Suckling rated it 93 points for Wine Spectator in 1989.

The fill levels are excellent (2x top shoulder, 7x into neck). The labels are soiled; the capsules are in perfect condition.
