Silver. China, Qing-Dynasty (1644 – 1912)
Either paperweight is very finely crafted, of flat rectangular and elongated shape; either weight is decorated with two crisply rendered fenghuang (phoenix) bearing long tails; further decorated with a large, finely stylized blossom including a pearl; the blossom is flanked on each side with two characters reading jixiang (luck) and ruyi (translating “wishedâ€); with elaborate ground pattern, and the reverse with an embossing reading zuyin “pure silverâ€.
