Jade. China, late Qing, approx. 19th cent. to 1900
Elegantly proportioned small Hu-vase with slightly raised relief decor and decorative handles. The relief on both sides offers rocks, flowering prunus trees and under them on one side, Lingzhi, the mushrooms of longevity. The long openwork handles are dragons, however, verz abstract and decorative, partially suggesting the longzhi-form. The hade is milky grey-green, has veins and predominantely holds very good translucency. Very retracted bottom and on a carved wood base with detailed openwork.
