mid-19th century, Jamestown School of rifle makers from Guilford County, North Carolina. maple, half-stock with no patchbox, percussion ignition, 36” octagonal barrel that reads “A. LAMB 7” at top, double set trigger. in addition to hallmark, rifle has features characteristic of Jamestown rifles: a long barrel tang with a rounded end secured by three screws and a double dovetail front sight.
