A COMMENTARY ON THE EPISTLES OF ST. PAUL, WRITTEN BY THE VENERABLE BEDE IN A CONTEMPORARY BROWN CALF
Beda, Venerabilis. Commentarii in omnes diui Pauli epistolas, ex lucubrationibus s. Augustini Catholicae Ecclesiae probatissimi doctoris, per venerabilem Bedam presbyterum selecti. Addito elencho locorum prope omnium, quorum in nouo testamento fit mentio, aliarumque rerum,et vocum quae usui esse scripturarem studiosis possint. Venetiis (Venice): sub signo sancti Bernardini, 1543.
8vo (the leaf 154 x 100 mm), contemporary brown calf with border of thin golden fillets on covers, and vine-leaf tools at corners, at centre of upper cover a golden tool showing Our Lady and the Child, and on lower cover a small arabesque tool. Raised bands on spine, with blind impressions.
Woodcut device on title, woodcut initials, leaves [20], 326 numb. (of 639, 1).
A commentary on the Epistles of St. Paul, written by the Venerable Bede, a Benedictine monk.
This one is practically the volume one (of two), only, complete in itself, to be sold as a binding.
