Three orchids in vases rest on a black line, suggesting a table. Painted in acrylic on canvas, Ed Baynard’s "Orange Orchid"has a simplistic arrangement that amasses great detail upon closer inspection. Each of the vases – blocks of primary colors – are made up of small brushstrokes in varying directions, giving texture to the otherwise calm composition.

Ed Baynard (AMERICAN, 1940)
Born in Washington, D.C. in 1940, Ed Baynard has been continually inspired by Japanese woodblock imagery and American modernism. His first exhibition was in 1971 at the legendary Willard Gallery. His work is held in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Tate Gallery, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Walker Art Center, and The High Museum, among others. Ed Baynard lives and works in New York.
