Description
John Rogers (Mass. 1829-1904) Damaged and repaired parian ware sculpture of 2 wounded US Civil War soldiers, one standing with rifle and the other patching wound on leg - 1860's - entitled on front base "Wounded To The Rear / One More Shot" - research indicates this sculpture was completed in 1864. Note that soldier wrapping wound around legs has a REPLACED parian ware head/neck with damage (matches the head of the standing soldier so obviously a replacement) - also cracks and repairs to his kepi and loss to loose shoe. 19.5"H. Please Note - this is NOT the plaster sculptures normally associated with the Rogers Groups, this is construction of white bisque porcelain (parian) and is of higher quality.
