US Springfield Model 1842 Percussion Rifle. The lock plate engraved with an eagle with shield to its breast above US and stamped SPRING/FIELD/1849 behind hammer; 33.5” length round barrel stamped 1850, with front sight. Steel trigger guard missing sling swivel. Steel butt plate stamped US. Missing ram rod. Total length approximately 49.25”. Inspectors proof. Walnut stock refinished with several stress cracks.Two steel bands, front band with swivel, minor pitting to metal areas with more extensive pitting to the barrel, action does not always work so overall fair condition.
