Extraordinary relic with breathtaking footage from the filming of the drama ‘Avalanche’ (‘Stürme über dem Montblanc’)
The present photobook documents the shooting of the film ‘Avalanche’ (‘Stürme über dem Montblanc’) with Leni Riefenstahl in the female lead, in 1925. The picture collection shows snowy landscapes of Northern Italy and the Mont Blanc as well as the Austrian Salzkammergut. Further der are images of the film crew and the set. As a supplement there is a booklet with background information about the shooting of the film directed by Arnold Fanck, a pioneer of the ‘mountain film’ genre. A signed autograph card by Leni Riefenstahl completes this rare collection.
The album shows signs of wear. The prints are mostly in good condition consistent with age. They are glued or loosely mounted with photo corners. Some show signs of age and wear in the form of losses to the edges or discoloration, some are wavy and soiled. The majority of the photos measures approx. 9 x 14 cm, some have different formats.
