Hector Aguilar was born in 1905 and began his career by working with William Spratling, the "father of Mexican silver." Aguilar opened his own silver shop in 1939, but in 1943 World War II caused silver shortages and Aguilar contracted with the Coro Jewelry Company and that partnership continued until 1950. Aguilar continued with his own shop until 1966. Hector Aguilar was a leading figure in the creation of Mexican silver pieces and his work is still highly sought after today.
