Technique: Original Hand-Coloured Etching on Montval paper

Plate Size: 26 x 24 cm / 10.2 x 9.4 in
Additional Information: This etching is hand-coloured by the artist in yellow and red watercolor.
The work is part of a series "Les Fables de la Fontaine" and was printed in 1952 in a limited edition of only 85 hand colored impressions on Montval paper.
The total edition included 200 impressions of which only 85 where hand colored.
The series was commissioned by Ambroise Vollard in 1927. Chagall executed the plates from 1927 to 1930.
The etchinsg were printed between 1927 to 1930 by Maurice Potin for Ambroise Vollard but the series was only piblished by Teriade (for Editions Verve) in 1952.
