A George IV silver gilt snuff box, by Alexander James Strachan, London 1827, the hinged cover with cast foliate border containing a rectangular Roman micromosaic panel, unsigned, (71 x 51mm) depicting The Capotoline (or Pliny's) Doves, 86 x 70 x 24mm, gross weight 8.6oz, together with two daguerrotype photographs depicting a former owner Lieutenant General Thomas Dyneley, CB., RA
Condition
The micromosaic panel is complete and intact. There is some wear to the gilt and to the engine turned design particularly on the base. Hinge is good. Full hall marks to the inside base and partial marks to the inner cover
