Alexandre Fassianos is one of the most famous Greek painters of the present, he deals in later paintings with subjects from Greek mythology and Byzantine art, which he mostly captures in motion; acrylic paintings by the artist fetch up to €46,000 on the international auction market

Offered here is a painting by Greek painter Alecos, respectively Alexandre Fassianos. Shown is a woman with a horse. A breeze seems to come out of her mouth and her long hair appears like gone with the wind. Fassianos gains inspiration for his images and themes from Greek mythology or Byzantine art, as it is expressed in our painting by the appearance of the framing ornament frieze and the use of gold color in between.



The acrylic painting is signed upper left ‘A. Fassianos’ and is in very good condition. The image measures 43.5 x 53 cm, the frame dimensions are 52 x 61 cm. The frame shows slight signs of use.



Alexandre Fassianos (born 1935)

Alexandre Fassianos, also known as Alekos Fassianos, was born 1935 in Athens. He studied from 1956-1960 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens under Yiannis Moralis. He then went to Paris, where he studied the technique of lithography until 1963. Central themes of his works are the mythology but also eroticism and sensuality, which he displays mostly in glowing colors. Fassianos was represented in many international exhibitions and is one of the most famous Greek painters of the present.
