This beautiful school globe was produced in the cartographic institute Freytag-Berndt in Vienna around 1930. 12 colored printed paper segments make the surface of the globe which is made of cardboard and is fixed on a z-like swivel mount made of varnished metal. The metal rod is encased with a conical, cylindrical shank of lacquered beech, which turns into a beech foot with embedded compass. The globe of the world's most traditional cartographic company is an excellent collector’s piece today.
The globe is inscribed below the equator with ‘Wiener Schulglobus, Große Ausgabe, Maßstab 1:40.000.000, Kartogr. Anstalt, G. Freytag & Berndt A.G., Wien’. The condition is good with age related signs of use. The paper is slightly browned and partly shows abrasions. It’s on a scale of 1: 40,000,000. The height is c. 62 cm and the diameter is c. 32 cm.
