Description
An excellent Colima figure from West Mexico, c. 300 BC – AD 300. This lovely female is depicted seated, with arms crossed over her chest and wearing a full-length skirt and an incised headband. H: 4 ¾ in with highly burnished two-tone slip showing extensive mineral deposits. Cf. Taube, The Albers Collection of Pre-Columbian Art, page 88; Ex Florida collection.
