Edgar Brandt designed this mirror around 1925. Brandt was the master of the ironwork in the beginning of the 20th Century. He combined traditional smith techniques with modern invention, such as blowpipes or machine hammer, and created lamps, magnificent entrance doors as well as decorative chimney grids. This wall mirror is distinguished by its plain design. The wrought-iron, narrow frame is only decorated with an ornamental tooth frieze.



The mirror is signed ‚E. BRANDT‘ and measures 74 x 44 cm. It is in good condition with normal signs of age and wear, such as partly some flash rust.



Edgar Brandt (1880-1960)

Edgar William Brandt began his career as a blacksmith. In 1902 he opened his business ‘Établissements Brandt’ where he produced iron works and armaments. In 1936 his company was nationalized and emerged with several engineering companies. His artistic works are characterized by a balanced and classic design language.
