The elegant fruit bowl is made of silver plated nickel silver and has an interesting feature of four small bowls put around its shaft. It is decorated with a hammered finish.

The bowl is marked with the manufacturer's mark and 'CHRISTOFLE 40' underneath. It is 9.7 cm high and has diameter of 35.5 cm. It is in very good condition with normal traces of use and aging, such as slight scratches.

Luc Lanel (1893-1965) & Marjolaine Lanel (1897-1976)

In the first half of the 20th century, Luc Lanel and his wife Marjolaine played an important role in the field of arts and crafts. Since 1920, Luc Lanel worked for Christofle and manufactured objects in the Art Deco style. Together with his wife, he created ceramics, which were often signed with ‘La Marjolaine’. In 1946, Lanel ended working for Christofle and only produced ceramics. Here, the pair collaborated with famous designers such as Jules Leleu, Jean-Charles Moreux and André Devèche.

Christofle (est. 1830)

The company Christofle was founded in 1830 by the jeweler Charles Christofle (1805-1863). The brand mark was officially registered in 1853. In the 19th century Christofle became the purveyor to the House of Orléans and later to Napoleon III and Sultan Abdülaziz (1830-1876). The company is known to this day for their silverware such as cutlery, services, picture frames, crystal vases, glassware, porcelain tableware and silver jewelry.
