Item Details
Description
The AEAA is very pleased to present this next piece of valuable Vaseline glass from the respected Loren (Butch) Morse collection. This lot represents a gorgeous & scarce 1899-1902 Vaseline Opalescent Opal Open pedestal rose bowl. Our great rose bowl constitute a truly valuable collectible, and the Northwood examples appear to be 100% Opalescent. This same pattern was reissued as Beaded Panels by Dugan Glass in 1907, BUT, only in Peach Opalescent & other Iridescent Carnival colors. This original antique rose bowl has fiery Opalescence and features a stunning panel & bead mold definition. There were reproductions of the pattern by Fenton for L.G. Wright, and others, in the 1950s & 1960s. EVERY REPRODUCTION WILL HAVE GLASS FILLED STEM LOOPS! Only the originals are see through. Our bowl explodes under black light, and is in wonderful condition, weighing 13 oz., and measuring 3 x 3 x 5.5 inches tall. Loren Morse was a respected family man and Vaseline collector, and his untimely passing a year ago was a blow to everyone. The Morse family gratefully appreciates your participation in this Estate sale. Research consulted: The complete Encyclopedia of Victorian Pattern Glass / by William Heacock, with assistance from William Gamble, and revisions (Opalescent Glass From A to Z, Books #2 & #9) by JoAnn Elmore; Standard Encyclopedia of Opalescent Glass (7th Ed) / by Mike Carwile; Harry Northwood The Early Years 1881 – 1900, AND Harry Northwood The Wheeling Years 1901 – 1925 / both by William Heacock, James Measell, & Berry Wiggins; Dugan / Diamond The Story of Indiana, Pennsylvania, Glass / by William Heacock, James Measell , and Berry Wiggins
