Commemorative late Roman Coin, struck 344-345 AD in Siscia Mint (Sisek). Commemorates the founding of Constantinople. Such coins were also issued to re-affirm Rome as the traditional center of the Empire . Avers: Laureate, helmeted bust looking up to Heaven, wearing imperial mantle, holding scepter. ("Eyes to the heavens" bust) CONSTAN-TINOPOLIS. Reverse: Victory standing on prow/boat, holding long scepter in right hand, and resting left hand on shield. dot BSIS dot, in ex. Reference: RIC VII Siscia 241. Measurements: Approx. 17 mm, 2.3 grams
