Richly ornamented 17th century Nuremberg silversmith work in original condition

The gilded beaker by the silversmith Siegmund Bierfreund was manufactured in the second half of the 17th century. The cylindrical body set on 3 ball-feet. Lid and wall are richly decorated with fruits, flowers and lopp-garlends. Except the bottom the beaker is gilded.

The cup is in good condition with usual traces of age and wear. The gilding is partly rubbed. The base shows the city mark for Nuremberg, the makers mark of Sigmund Bierfreund and furthermore a zic zag line mark ‘Tremolierstrich’. It measures 11 cm in height and 7.9 cm in diameter. The weight is 135 grams. (bed)
