Johann Heinrich Lorenz Kleucker (1776-1842, master 1804) – Silversmith from Luneburg
Each hallmarked with ‘Kleucker’ and ‘12’ on the edge of the plinth
Two-piece plugged construction, usable as one-flame or three-flames candlestick
Square plinth and ring stand with engraved lancet leaves; conical shaft with Cymation and leaves frieze; spout adorned with stylized lancet leaves
Spout with plugged three-flame chandelier with two curved, chased and voluted arms and stylized lancet friezes on the spouts; removable drip plates

Two decorative and practical silver candlesticks that can be used with one flame ore three flames. Works by the silversmith Kleucker are on display at the Museum Lüneburg and the Museum August Kestner in Hannover

The present silver candlesticks are the work of the Luneburg silversmith Johann Heinrich Lorenz Kleucker (1776-1842, master 1804) and date from around 1810. They feature a two-part plugged construction and can be used both with one flame ore three flames. The candlesticks stand on a square plinth with a ring stand, which is adorned with stylized lancet leaves. The conical shaft is decorated with a Cymation and leaves frieze. The spout carries the three-flamed top piece, whose curved and voluted arms are especially striking.


The candlesticks are hallmarked with ‘Kleucker’ and ‘12’ on the edges of the plinths. They are in good condition with minor wear marks and trces of restoration. The candlesticks are 30 cm in height. Overall weight of both candlesticks: circa 1100 grams.
