Late 18th century, Qianlong period, A round bottom bowl with everted flaring thin rim highlighted with overglaze gold enamel. Plain interior, the exterior decorated with eight repeated identical archaic characters alternating in blue and red overglaze enamels surrounded by lotus flowers and meander, lotus petal lappets around the tall footring, six character Qianlong mark in underglaze blue on the base. Approx. 5 3/4 by 2.5 in. diam., 14.8 by 6.4 cm. diam.
