823. David Hall inspirational painting for Peter Pan. (Walt Disney Studios, 1939/1953) Already an established concept and atmospheric artist and art director in Hollywood, David Hall joined the Disney Studio in 1939. For a little more than a year, Hall worked as an inspirational sketch artist creating concept art for Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and Bambi, all future projects at the studio. Hall’s style was similar to the European book illustrators that influenced Disney’s pre-war films. Many of his illustrations were filmed in a studio Leica reel as development continued on the projects. Unfortunately, financial woes at the studio caused delays in production of Peter Pan and Alice In Wonderland, and Hall left the studio in 1940 to continue his work on live-action films. Accomplished in ink and watercolor on 8 x 10 in. artists’ board, this concept features Hall’s versions of “Peter Pan”, “Tinkerbell”, and “Michael”. In fine condition.
