Description
N-069 U.S. WWII two-piece body armor. Flak set primarily designed for air crews of the B-17. The set consists of: (1) Vest (M1 and M2). Front and back held together by "lift dots" with a "tug strap" at the front for emergency release. Marked "CRAWFORD MFG CO...". Weight 17lbs 6oz. Top left shoulder strap has worn out area, some soiling on lining and one hole at back. Basically in solid condition. (2) Bottom - "Armored Flyers groin M-5" consisting of three sections -groin and hip covers. Weight 16lbs 10 oz. Externally in very good condition, lining is soiled. Total weight 34lbs. Because of the weight and restricted movement, a limited number was made and production was discontinued by 1944. A Rare set. II
