The Ohio State Marching Band was perhaps the largest all-brass and percussion band in the country. Started in 1878 as a 12 piece fife and drum corps, the band grew into a 100 member marching band by the 1920's, playing for all university military and athletic events. This album shows band members in rehearsal and performance. There are blackboard talks and portraits of the director ad the 'strutting drum major'. Band members are pictured at university functions, aboard trains for their away games in New York and Chicago, dining at banquets, and on the field working through their numerous formations. Included are three candid photographs of Bing Crosby and George Raft along with members of the band in New York City radio studio.
