Emily Delia Anderson (1889-1979) was a Gloucester native and an accomplished painter. Gloucester Fog attests to her mastery of the Cape Ann style of plein air oil painting. Unfortunately, there are not many of Emily's paintings on the market. This is perhaps due to a lack of gallery representation during her lifetime, and a tragic house fire in which she lost her 90 year old father and which destroyed her work. Luckily for us, this painting, which dates from around 1960, was not in the fire. It most likely was purchased by a Midwestern tourist, and somehow made it's way to a shop in Michigan, where I found it. The painting is in its original frame. Both are in good condition.
