Since the kreto-minoan culture in the ancient Greece, the oenochoe served for dispensing wine. The present jug made of painted clay features the typical cloverleaf-shaped opening. The flattened bulbous body stands on a recessed foot ring and has a high handle, which is attached to the mouth edge. The body shows a black painted fond and is embellished with a cartouche on the front side, featuring a black figural scene with a flute player and a shepherd with a dog.
The vase is in good restored condition. It was broken several times and has been restored professionally. The height is 20 cm. (cko)
