The present Mycenaean idol made of painted clay was manufactured around 1300 BC in Greece. It shows an abstract female figure of the Psi-type with a foot-long dress and raised arms. The Mycenaean civilization prospered in the 13th and 14th century BC and was named after the castle of Mycenae. The female idols of this period are characterized by the tendency to extreme schematization. The Psi-type shows a ritual gesture, which is documented as an epiphany gesture since the 2nd millennium BC.
The clay figure is in good condition, showing a small loss to the foot. The height is 10.5 cm. The figure comes with a black stand. (cko)
