Outstanding craftsmanship with rich patterning variety

The pair of silver candlesticks is from Wroclaw and was made around 1840 by the silversmith Carl Friedrich Korock. The shank with an ascending foot, stands on a square base. The first third of the raised shank is decorated with a rhombus frieze and tassels in the relief and is ending with a rose relief all around. The vase spout has a mounted, extracted drip-catcher. The sticks convince trough an outstanding craftsmanship and with rich variety of patterns.

The sticks are stamped at the edge of the plinth with the city mark Wroclaw Johannes head (abraded), the date letter ‘S’ for 1839/1849 and the master’s mark ‘Korock’. They are in good condition with minimal signs of age and wear. The height measures c. 30.3 cm and the total weight is c. 383 grams.
