Rare Model 1878 Sharps-Borchardt Carbine.

Item Details

Description

Serial # 18083 This was the last carbine model manufactured by Sharps. 383 total manufactured, it features a 24" barrel, chambered for the .45-70 centerfire cartridge, barrel band fore stock, saddle ring on left side, and military style sights. Top of barrel is marked "Old Reliable" along with address (Bridgeport, Conn.). Rifle is all original, unaltered, never touched. All metal surfaces are basically a grey-brown patina with minor spotting. Walnut stocks are original, proud to metal, never refinished, with three 1" hairline cracks at wrist. Strong rifled bore with some minor pitting and a little frosting. Perfect action. Features a set trigger. Trigger guard has a hammered repair.
