Appian (Appianus of Alexandria). Delle Guerre Civili de Romani [Bound With] Historia delle guerre esterne de Romani >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Florence: Giunta, 1526; Venice: Zoppino, 1528. Two bound in one. Printer's woodcut devices to title and final leaf of first work, and second title within woodcut borders and with woodcut printer's device to final leaf verso. 287, [1]; 191, [1] leaves. Binding of full black calf with boards decorated in Grolier style, edges gilt and gauffered (tipped in notes suggesting this binding was done for King Francis I of France, reigned 1515-1547.) Hinges cracked but sound. Bookplate of George Dunn of Wooley Hall to pastedown. First title stained and some lighter marginal water-staining to several leaves at front and back. Else clean, Very Good. This copy last appeared at Sotheby's, Nov. 7, 1932.
