BLOWN-MOLDED EIGHT-PANEL WHALE OIL HAND / FINGER LAMP, colorless, waisted font with bold applied handle having a medial ridge and complex lower terminal. Later No. 1 brass fine-line collar. Fitted with an E. F. Jones No. 0 lip burner, thumbwheel lightly marked "E. F. JONES. / PATENT MAY 4.1858 / REISSUE JANUARY 11 1859.", with a Merrill's air director, marked "MERRILL'S PATENT. JUNE 14. 1859", period colorless lip chimney. New England. Mid 19th century. 4 3/4" H to top of collar, 4" DOA base.

Condition
Lamp with a bruise to body ring adjacent to upper terminal. Burner with two repairs including reattachment to deflector and chimney fitter support, thumb tab with a soldered break, and detachment of perforated air hole band and base, chimney fitter with normal roughness.
