ALBERT KESSELRING (1885 - 1960) Field Marshal in the Luftwaffe and at Nuremburg was tried for war crimes. Death sentence commuted due to ill health. Scarce A.L.S. ""Albert"" while a prisoner of war along with envelope signed: ""Albert Kesselring P.O.W. Camp 373"" 4pp. large 8vo. Wolfsburg Oct. 18 1947 to his wife in German. In part: ""...I will call on the [Allies] to get instructions for my future comportment...I am still in Wolfsburg and I will remain here for some time...Making demands is futile...If one knows how important letters are if one is to remain strong in these difficult times...such things oppress one greatly...<ackessen just read me a letter...The afternoon was taken up with a farewell meeting in the military hospital because this is a necessary step on the path to freedom..."".
