DAVID LESLIE 1ST LORD NEWARK (c. 1600 - 1682) English cavalry officer and general in the English Civil War and Scottish Civil Wars. When the Parliamentarian army under Oliver Cromwell invaded Scotland in July 1650 Leslie commanded the Scottish forces. Rare manuscript D.S. 1p. 8vo. Wycliff June 5 1645 an order that soldiers in no way: ""...trouble molest or plunder any of the goods chattels...belonging to Mr. Marmaduke Tonstall[?]...his wife children or servants..."". Very good.
