Item Details
Description
The AEAA is very pleased to present this next piece of valuable Vaseline Opalescent glass items from the respected Loren (Butch) Morse collection. This lot represents a stunning & RARE ca. 1908-1910 Dugan Glass Vaseline Opalescent card tray whimsy, finished in the classic Inverted Fan & Feather pattern, featuring a unique octagonal crown rim. Originally supplied in Custard glass by Northwood (ca. 1900), this pattern was purchased upon the plant transfer with Dugan. The Vaseline is rich, and the Opalescence is fiery, and the mold details are marvelous. Some call this the Very Rare Novelty bowl, but with the wonderful 4 scrolling feet, we believe this to be the also Rare elevated card tray. *** In either instance, the book value of both ranges between $250 & $300 on each of these. This gorgeous Dugan whimsy explodes under black light, plus is in wonderful condition, with one base mark: see below. Our Inverted Fan & Feather weighs 12 oz., measuring 7 x 7 x 3 inches tall. Loren Morse was a respected family man and Vaseline collector, and his untimely passing a year ago was a blow to everyone. The Morse family gratefully appreciates your participation in this Estate sale. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. In 1959, Fenton was the first American company to re-issue their Topaz (Uranium Oxide - Vaseline), and shortly thereafter the Green Uranium glasses, subsequent to the expiration of the Hazardous Materials Act of 1942, which banned the commercial use of all Uranium, reserving it for the U.S. war effort. Fenton produced a myriad of beautiful Topaz, Topaz Opalescent, Topaz Iridized Opalescent items, and Green Uranium figurines & smalls, right up until the end.
