Circa 1657 to 1680 Spanish Florida Rosary Medallion
c. 1657 to 1680 Spanish Colonial Florida Second-Oldest Settlement Era. Spanish Rosary Medallion. Dual Sided Designs. With Its Original Top Loop Intact. Choice Near Mint.
This authentic Spanish Rosary Medallion is an even deep chocolate in its perfect original color with simply fantastic details and a rich naturally great patina. The original Top Loop is solid and completely intact for wearing and suspension. The appearance is exceptional and the surfaces are hard and smooth, highlighting the remarkable design details.

This rare Spanish Rosary Medallion is said by the consignor to have been discovered in Florida at an early Spanish Mission / Trading Post / Fort site known as, "San Salvador de Mayaca.” The mission of San Salvador de Mayaca appeared on a list of missions in 1655. In 1657, the site of San Salvador de Mayaca was constructed in present-day Volusia, on the existing shell mounds of the Mayaca people. In about 1680, it was settled and became the Second-Oldest Spanish base in Florida after St. Augustine! A magnificent, ultra-rare treasure.
