This rocking chair is made of black lacquered plywood and leather cushions, designed in 1962 by the Italian designer Gae Aulenti (1927-2012). The feature of this furniture named ‘Sgarsul’, which was produced by Poltronova, is characterized by the closed and curved shape of the frame.
The rocking chair is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear The overall height is 81 cm, the seat height is 31 cm and the seat width is 57.5 cm.
Gae Aulenti (1927-2012)
The Italian architect, designer and theoretician Gae Aulenti (1927-2012) worked as an editor and graphic designer for the design magazine ‘Casabella-Continuità ’, taught architecture composition at the University of Venice and at the Milan Polytechnic University. From 1982 to 1985 she took an active part in the redesign of the Museum of Modern Art in the Centre Georges Pompidou and also from 1985 to 1986 at the Palazzo Gassi in Venice, to name a few of her projects. Gae Aulenti was honored many times for her creative work.
