Description
Early to mid-20th century, Modern period. 19th century style boxwood figure of a kneeling woman carrying an infant in the front and a small child on her back. Holes for cord and Shinzan signature to base. Shinzan Masanao is among the top-ranking twentieth century netsuke carvers and is the last of the distinguished Masanao family of carvers. Approx. 1 5/8 by 1 1/8 in., 4 by 3 cm.
