Pen and ink, watercolour Circa 1830 44.5 x 29.5 cm. (17 1/2 x 11 1/2 in) Provenance: Sale. Bonhams, London, 18th September, 2007, 18th and 19th Century British Watercolours and Drawings , lot 44 (£2,400 hammer); Private collection, UK; from whom purchased by Mallett, 2008 A pupil of J.A. Repton, Frederick Mackenzie (1787-1854) became an architectural and topographical draughtsman, working for many of the foremost publishers and engravers of the day, including Britton and Ackermann. He was briefly a member of the Oil and Watercolour Society and joined the reconstituted O.W.S. as an Associate in 1822 and as a full member in 1823. He was Treasurer of the Society from 1831 until his death.This lot is offered without reserve.
