2nd-18th century AD. Group comprising: an antique silver and gem-set flower basket brooch (lacking pin) set with one rubellite tourmaline at centre, three peridots, ten rubies and twenty-four (of twenty-five) old cut small diamonds; a teardrop blue sapphire of good colour in a silver mount; a cabochon garnet (chipped) in a fragmentary gold mounting, possibly once part of a Roman period earring. The brooch suitable for repair and wear or the stones suitable for re-use or restoration of other antique pieces. 6.03 grams total, 12-27mm (1/2 - 1"). Acquired London art market, 1980s.
