Watercolor and gouache with traces of pencil, design for a fan, attributed to or in the manner of James Abbot McNeill Whistler (1834-1903). Executed on white wove paper (now laid down on board, some areas re-affixed) and signed with the butterfly device (the artist's monogram). 7 1/4 x 9 7/8 inches (sheet size). Very good condition overall.

Provenance: Acquired by the former owner's family in Great Britain, circa 1950-60.
