Typed letter signed ("Dorothy L. Sayers") addressed to "S.H. Benson Ltd", expressing Sayer's satisfaction for the sketch of the "Detection Club Bookplate" and writes "I have got as far as the enclosed with the inscription, but am still racking my brains and my reference books for a suitable quotation to end with. (I thought it better to indicate that the murder was not a real one, lest any intending client should read and flee from the building in alarm!"); mailing folds, "S.B. Benham" stamped on head, light creasing to paper, pen and pencil annotations to enclosed sheets, 4to, 23rd May 1949. Enclosed mentioned by Sayers and containing her drafts for the quotation are also included in the lot. Dorothy L.
